Product » Passive RFID Readers

Ultra-high frequency UHF

High Frequency, HF, 13.56MHz

Passive RFID readers are designed for reading and writing passive RFID tags. They read tags in one of the two ways:
(a) by passing the tags through a fixed portal, or (b) by manually scan each tag with a hand-held reader.

Hong Kong RFID provides standard passive RFID readers and product engineering services. We are listing some of our products in the below catetories.

The UHF (Ultra-high Frequeny) spectrum covers the range from 300 MHz to 3 GHz. Systems complying with the UHF EPC Class 1 Gen 2 (or ISO18000-6) standard for RFID use the 860 to 960 MHZ frequency band. However, depends on the local government regulations, there is some varience in frequencies used from country to country. The two commonly used frequency ranges are 902 to 928 MHz and 865 to 868 MHz, while a few countried have adopted either multiple bands or unique ranges on the EPC standard.

UHF are typically used in supply chain management applications as they offers longer read ranges (20-30 ft) and faster reading ability. UHF readers are able to perform multi-tag readering up to 200 tags at a time.

Before you decide on which UHF RFID reader is right for your region and application, you can simply contact our specialist at support@hk-rfid.com or you can check the UHF regulations for each country at http://www.gs1.org/docs/epcglobal/UHF_Regulations.pdf.

High Frequency HF

Generally, RFID HF (High Frequency) systems operate at 13.56 MHz worldwide. There are several ISO standards in place, while ISO15693 is the most commonly adopted one. The ECMA-340 and ISO18092 refer to the spectrum of Near Field Communication (NFC). ISO14443A and ISO14443 are standards for MIFARE technology, mainly used in smartcards and proximity cards. The JIS X 6319-4 for FeliCa is a system mostly seen in electronic payment cards.

HF (High Frequency) readers are mainly used in applications with metal or humid surroundings, as HF tags work better under these environments. Their read ranges fall between 10 cm to 1 m.
