  • The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) delegation affirmed the Research and Developement of Hong Kong RFID

    March, 2006

Hong Kong RFID has closed relationship with local tertiary institutions. One of the FYP of Department of Information Systems in the City University of Hong Kong is about RFID application in jewellery management. The project entitled “RFID-Based Jewellery Inventory Management System”. The RFID-based Jewellery Inventory Management system is a system specifically designed for the Jewellery Industry. It makes use of RFID technology to increase operational efficiency, security and accuracy of inventory management.

Under the system, every jewellery item is attached to a RFID tag. Each tag contains an unique identification number. A RFID reader can wirelessly read multiple RFID tags at a time. The collected ID and data are then sent to the database to update the status (such as physical location) of the corresponding jewellery items. The system thus facilitates accurate inventory level and tracking. Students in this project visited to Hong Kong RFID and seek for some advices. We have provided suitable readers, antennas and tags based on their requirements. Apart from hardware support, we have shared our experiences in jewellery inventory management. Students finally have successfully achieved the project goal. We are looking forward to provide such meaningful support to local tertiary institutions.
